“Not like what you see on TV.”
“The hypnotherapy part was not what I was expecting, it’s not like what you see on TV. Lucas talks you through the whole thing and lets you take your time. I have never felt so relaxed.”

“Absolutely convinced.”
“I was honestly somewhat sceptical of Hypnotherapy in general simply not knowing anyone that had done it before. However, I am absolutely convinced that everyone should experience it in their lifetime.”

Clearing it up

Almost nothing gets misunderstood as often as this

Myth You are asleep, or unconscious.
Actually You are awake and alert. It is a state of focused attention, not unconsciousness.
Myth You might get stuck in it.
Actually Not possible. Your own mind returns you to full awareness, and the session always ends fully alert.
Myth Some people cannot be hypnotised.
Actually If you have ever been lost in a book or driven a familiar route without recalling it, you have already done what this relies on.
Myth It’s not backed by science.
Actually Clinical hypnosis is used and studied in medicine and psychology, particularly for anxiety, pain and habits.
Why hypnotherapy?

Your conscious mind decides. Your subconscious runs the show.

You already know what you want. That’s the conscious part of you, and it’s the part most approaches speak to. The trouble is, your habits, beliefs, emotional reactions and automatic responses aren’t stored there.

They’re stored in the subconscious mind. In fact, research suggests that up to 95% of our behaviour, emotions and thoughts are driven by subconscious processes.

So you can want the change, understand the change, and still find yourself doing the same thing again. That’s because another part of you is running an older set of instructions, and it hasn’t been consulted.

While those two parts are pulling in opposite directions, no technique holds for long. Once they are working together, change stops feeling like something you have to force.

That is what hypnotherapy is for. Not persuasion, not willpower, and not a deeper kind of advice. It is a way of getting both parts of your own mind onto the same side.

Hypnotherapy

It’s not what you think.

Hypnosis has been sold as mind control: someone swinging a watch, taking over, making you do things you wouldn’t choose. It makes for good television. It just isn’t what happens.

The truth is, it’s the other way around. Nobody takes control of your mind. You take it back.

Built-in safety

Your subconscious’s primary objective is to protect you and help you thrive, so it won’t accept a suggestion that goes against your values or wellbeing.

What is it like?

You’ve already been in hypnosis thousands of times.

Think about watching a movie. You know it isn’t real: there are actors, a script, a film crew just out of shot. But a few minutes in, you forget all that. You’re swept up in the story, laughing, crying, holding your breath.

That’s hypnosis. A natural state your mind slips into whenever you’re relaxed and absorbed.

In this calm, focused state, your mind’s threat response settles down, and you become more open to new ways of seeing, believing and experiencing life. That’s what makes real change possible: your brain is far more willing to try something new.

Your subconscious mind also becomes more accessible and more engaged. It’s a little like what happens when you dream at night, though in a different way. Here, you can connect more easily with memories and imagination, and gain more influence over your automatic responses.

What it can do

Back to the source, forward to the change

01

Finds the actual root

What you remember as the start often isn’t where a pattern began. Hypnosis is unusually good at finding where it really formed — gently, and only as far as feels comfortable.

02

Insight, or release

From there, the work brings either a new understanding that finally makes sense of it, or a letting go of the emotion holding it in place. Often both.

03

Updates what is out of date

A response built for a situation you’re no longer in keeps firing anyway. We bring it up to date with who you are now.

04

Rehearses what is coming

It works just as well looking ahead. We rehearse the outcome you want in vivid detail, so when you get there, it feels like somewhere you’ve already been.

The goal isn’t for you to rely on me

Some forms of therapy work on an ongoing basis, with clients returning regularly for support. My approach is different. The aim of hypnotherapy is to resolve the issue, so you don’t need to keep coming back.

Alongside our sessions, you’ll come to understand how your subconscious mind works, and you’ll leave with practical tools to keep shifting it yourself. It’s about helping you reconnect with your own natural resourcefulness.

Success, for me, isn’t a client who keeps booking. It’s someone who’s finished with the problem and feels confident handling whatever comes next.
